Jay Curtis Bill Flory Award
The Jay Curtis Bill Flory Award was established by the VDTSEA in 1982 to honor driver educators who have made significant contributions to traffic safety education. It honors the legacy of two influential Vermont driver educators. Jay Curtis, a dedicated driver education teacher at Springfield High School and former VDTSEA president, who passed away around 1980. Bill Flory, a long-time driver educator at Whitingham and Wilmington High Schools, who served as VDTSEA's treasurer and membership chair for 40 years until his death in 2018. Originally named solely after Jay Curtis, the award was renamed following Bill Flory's passing to recognize both men's exceptional leadership and contributions to traffic safety education in Vermont.
